On and on and on and on
Open edition of digitally printed sashes
Initiated in 2019 with Nicole Clouston as part of Nuit Blanche: Continuum in Toronto
As participation grows, so does the infinitely recursive poem. This embodiment of physical poetry relies on the parodic motif of the sash. The garb borrows the levity, celebration, and pageantry of a beauty contest. But it’s also deadpan – austerely monochromatic and repeatedly concise in its phrasing. The project’s feigned seriousness and dedication to absurdity produce an intervention that fosters curiosity among observers and collectivity among participants.
