An unrealized exhibition at a Unitarian Universalist church
January 2017
Hi The Curator,
I had a chance to see the space the other day. I understand it's called the The Laurel Clark Gallery Space. Is this correct? A plaque of sorts seems to indicate this. As you may know, Unitarian Universalist Laurel died in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster on February 1, 2003 at approximately 9am. She was a big fan of the Scottish band Runrig and brought a CD of theirs into space during the mission. She woke up to their music daily while in outer space. What remained of the CD after the disaster was recovered and returned to her family, who subsequently gifted it to the band. On February 1, 2017 at 9am, I'd like to tie a copy of the same CD to a bunch of helium-filled balloons and release them. A written explanation of all this will be presented in the gallery (printed on Strathmore 140lb cold press) and accompanied by a single helium ballon shaped like a spaceship that will deflate over the course of the exhibition.
All my best,
Quintin

Hi Quintin, I am not sure what Unitarian Universalist congregation you visited but it is definitely not Neighbourhood. And this is a shame as what you envision is so neat!
The space you are schedule din with me is called Neighbourhood North Gallery at Neighbourhood Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 79 Hiawatha Road in the beaches of Toronto.
Unfortunately thisfabulous idea may not work at all for this space as it is a small corridor with walls very close to the viewer the work you had on line was wonderful and small and I thought it was perfect .
So please reconsider what you put int he show. It needs ot be framed, and wired so it can hang on s hooks.
As for the hanging. I am only there on Sunday so that is really my date. And now that you ar eunsure about the work or I am anyways I really would ike to be there.
Please sne dme images that you do have available and hopefully we can still make this work. If it doe snot work the current artist sin that space can keep her work up for another 3 months.
I am sorry there was confusion.

I'm pretty certain it was NUUC. A kid from the Montessori school opened the door for me. I met Hala Riad, who is lovely. I also took the attached picture. Shame it won't work out.
Best of luck,

Hi Quintin, Wow. my mistake this is a new sign that I was not at all aware of . You are in gallery north which is near that sign.
But the walls need much more than a balloon and a plaque, with almost 60 linear feet I was hoping for at least 15-20 pieces.
Is that possible?
Sorry for my error about the plaque.

No worries, The Curator. There could be documentation of the process. But then I'd also have to print photographs which starts to get expensive. And then there still remains the issues of using S hooks.

Hi Quintin, so to be clear you do not have any other work you are willing to show?
I do like the idea you have for the balloon and having the plaque in the show with your idea on paper as well.
It could potentially go at one of the ends of the u and then other work on the 5 other walls?

No, I don't have anything else for the space.
